LANCS INDUSTRIES
Providing radiation shielding products and solutions since 1974.
sleeving, bags, roll goods

Sound work depends on selecting the right tools and materials that fit the needs of a particular job. Handling, controlling, and disposing of radioactive or contaminated material in a safe manner requires proper technique and proper supplies.

Sometimes an off-the-shelf item can satisfy a requirement with little or no extra work. More often than not, special made-to-fit sleeving, bags or other items fabricated from roll goods will provide a more practical, effective and efficient solution to a given task. Lancs Industries provides a wide range of sleeving, bags and roll goods made from materials that meet stringent quality control criteria and rigorous performance characteristics.

When ordering an item made from roll goods it is necessary to specify the thickness, finish, and color of the material to ensure that we provide you with exactly what you need and expect. Or, we can discuss with you the nature of your project requirements to determine the best mix of material attributes that will best meet your needs.

Sleeving

Widely used in the handling of contaminated items, sleeving is a staple ALARA tool. Proper use of sleeving facilitates the transfer of objects between containments, protecting tools from contamination, or packaging items for disposal.

Lancs constructs sleeving with an electronically heat-sealed lap seam. Sleeving is provided in rolls, with 100 feet as the standard length per roll. We make rolls to your specified length as well. Sleeving can also be provided with an enbedded lanyard to facilitate insertion of cords or hoses into the sleeving and to make sleeving removal easier.

Bags

All bags are not alike. Custom-specified bag dimensions and material will often enable a job to be accomplished more quickly and effectively than trying to adapt an off-the-shelf bag to your project’s unique needs.

Lancs’ flexible fabrication processes allow us to provide bags of virtually any dimension required.
Materials can be PVC, PU, PE, Reinforced PE, Laminate, or woven fabrics depending on your performance requirements and disposal constraints. We can also include flaps, snaps, grommets, bungee cord, track zip lock, or printing as needed for each bag.

    Roll Goods
We can provide film or sheet for any of the materials used by Lancs for its products. PVC, PU, Laminated Material, Reinforced PE, or other woven fabrics can all be shipped directly to you for your own fabrication efforts or containment projects.

Orders for roll goods require a description of roll item desired rather than a product number. Descriptions should specify:

    • Type of material
    • Finish
    • Thickness or Weight of material
    • Color
    • Width and Length or overall weight of roll
    • Special Formulation Requirements

    Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
PVC is in the form of an unsupported film that exhibits excellent flexibility and strength. It is available in a wide range of thicknesses, finishes, and colors, with the most common provided by Lancs shown below. It can be electronically heat-sealed to weld together.

    • SS-481 PVC Bags, Tubing, and Sheet Physical Properties
    • MIL-STD-2041 Detrimental Material Control

    Polyurethane (PU)
PU is in the form of an unsupported film that exhibits superior toughness and durability. Since PU does not contain Chlorides, it is safe to incinerate for disposal. It is available in a wide range of thicknesses, finishes, and colors, with the most common provided by Lancs shown below. It can be electronically heat-sealed to weld together.

    Polyethylene (PE)
PE is in the form of an unsupported film that offers outstanding water and chemical resistance at an economical cost. It does not contain Chlorides and is safe to incinerate for disposal. It is available in a wide range of thicknesses, finishes, and colors, with the most common provided by Lancs shown below. It cannot be electronically heat-sealed; it must be thermally heat-sealed to weld together.

Lancs also provides Reinforced PE material. This is PE sheeting with embedded nylon braiding for added strength. It is available in a wide range of thicknesses and properties and can be provided as sheeting, bags, or sleeving.

    Laminated Material
Laminated material is comprised of a base cloth with a woven or knit open mesh made from either nylon or polyester which is bonded between two layers of vinyl film (PVC). The resulting material has one side that is smoother and one side that is textured with the mesh pattern of the base cloth. It can be electronically heat-sealed to weld together. (Laminated material can also be made with Polyurethane instead of PVC.)

Unlike unsupported films, laminated material is measured by weight (ounces per square yard) rather than thickness. It is available in a range of weights and colors, with all material being opaque.

    Pacifitex
Lancs Industries supplies a branded line of vinyl/nylon laminated fabrics under the name PACIFITEX. PACIFITEX is manufactured with fire retardant additives to comply with NFPA 701. It will not support combustion. PACIFITEX is certified to be free of leachable chlorides and other halides so as to be compatible for use with all types of stainless steel.

PACIFITEX is certified to be free of sulfur and mercury compounds.
